چکیده
Background: Klebsiella pneumonia is an opportunistic pathogen causing a great array of illness both in humans and animals responsible for high mortality rate burn patients. Aim: To determine occurrence K. wound patients to check antibiotic sensitivity pneumoniae. Methods: A retrospective cross sectional study was conducted 50 samples from Allied Hospital Faisalabad were taken isolation, identification resistance pattern pneumonia. Samples then inoculated on MacConkey agar pure colonies. For gram staining biochemical test performed. Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion technique used determined profiling K.pneumoniae against various disks. Results: On mucoid, lactose fermenting pink colonies pneumoniae observed. Among the tests, catalase, citrate VP found be positive whereas indole methyl red tests negative. Occurrence 28% Antibiotic showed that highly sensitive Imipenem (88.94%), meropenem (79.32%), ertapenem (75%), moderately aminoglycoside group (amikacin 59.13%, gentamicin 52.40%, Netilmicin 50.96%), piperacillin-tazobactam (53.84%) mildly tobramycin (49.51%), nitrofurantoin (48.07%), levofloxacin (45.19%) Conclusion: other negative bacilli are frequently associated with nosocomial infection. Furthermore, most isolates units MDR Keywords: Opportunistic pathogen, sensitive, Burn, Mortality, Nosocomial.

Bacterial Profile and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Pattern of Isolates Among Burn Patients at Yekatit 12 Hospital Burn Center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
BACKGROUND Infection is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in burn patients. Clinical diagnosis of bacteremia and/or sepsis in burn patients is difficult for a number of reasons. It could be symptomatic and/or asymptomatic as a result of immune deficiency secondary to thermal injury. METHODS A cross sectional study was conducted at Yekatit 12 Hospital Burn Center. Blood specimen and wo...

Methods We collected swabs from wounds in 16 ICU patients and 58 of burn ward patients during a two month period Jan.-March 2011. Clinical samples were inoculated on Blood agar and MacConkey agar. The isolates were identified with Gram stain, oxydase test and Enterosystem 18R for the gram negatives and Staphy slide test for the staphylococci. The antibiogram was performed by the disc-diffusion ...

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE The major challenge for a burn team is nosocomial infection in burn patients, which is known to cause over 50% of burn deaths. Most studies on infection in burn patients focus on burn wound infection, whereas other nosocomial infections in these patients are not well described. We undertook this study to determine three types of nosocomial infections viz., burn wound infe...
